Usually you want a lower impedance and 10K is a good value. The problem is that with a passive, the 10K is the impedance that your source will have to drive. It might not be so happy with that, so then you have to run a higher resistance in the passive, which can be troublesome for interconnect control.
In your case you are avoiding this (I assume) by running your control at a higher setting all the time, on account of your source is only 2 volts. So I would not worry about it if what I just said is true.
