A bit of credit where credit's due

HS, I'd like to share a few experiences I've had with Harry Blazer - things that won't ever make it into a news report.

Harry as distributor of Atma-Sphere helped me make a big sale that I couldn't have otherwise. The customer wanted an in-home audition of some expensive equipment that I didn't have in stock and wasn't in a position to purchase myself at that time. Harry purchased and provided the equipment, the customer loved it and bought it, and posted very favorably about it on Audiogon. Everybody walked away a winner. I certainly hope Harry made a few bucks off the transaction, as without him it wouldn't have happened.

Harry very much believes in supporting his dealers - he's not just seeking to add another layer of cost. In the case I mentioned as well as in many others, Harry has used his resources to help make good things happen that otherwise couldn't have. Harry isn't a sit-on-his-ass-and-cash-checks kinda guy. Frankly I don't think Harry knows how to sit on his ass.

On another occasion, Harry flew about four thousand miles round trip to help set up and fine-tune some equipment in a customer's home. He spent all day there, and was willing to spend another, but it became obvious that the customer's listening habits and situation weren't compatible with the equipment. I was present, so I got to see what happened next. Harry was so incredibly gracious in offering to take the equipment back that I felt like I was being given a master's clinic in customer service. If I'm ever in the position Harry was in that day, I hope I can be half as gracious as he was. Harry even arranged to pay for the return shipping. Though he didn't make a sale that day, he left with that customer's respect and admiration, and mine as well. I will never forget that.

My overriding concern in the present situation is still for Ralph Karsten, and how he is treated matters very much to me. But I wanted to post this information out of fairness to the party that I'm in disagreement with at this time.
