Range English as a Second Language speaker, but the name sounds weak. Few speakers can
deliver the impact of the L200, and unless the esl's weigh over 100 lbs.each, they can't either.
Also I
believe the distortion to be fairly low, as evidenced by virtually no aural fatigue, even after hours
of listening at high volume level. I agree that there is an abundance of presence, sort of like
actually being present, especially when you are listening to music that was produced live by
amps (today this includes almost everything but classical)and usually JBL speakers. Incidentally,
altec never was in the same league as JBL, although they tried to emulate the JBL sound. The only
reason they might have been more popular is because they were cheaper. I think you are
misinformed and would like to hear your favorite speakers against my 30 year old L200's on a
variety of program material.
