I think if you could A / B test a JBL L200 side by side with a Sound Lab Full-Range ESL....In the right sized room .....You would find both upper & lower octaves were missing and the distortion very high with an abundance of presence from the L200...JBL never intended that speaker to be accurate. They just wanted to build a studio speaker that would compete with Altec 604....that had most of the recording studio monitor market, East Coast & West Coast...60's & 70's A monitor speaker to make pop records for radio..
