MP-1 vs MP-3...?

I'm despairing of every getting Allen Wright to produce ALL of his balanced pre-amp kit, after waiting over three years and getting bits and pieces in dribs and drabs. So I was thinking maybe I should do what I should have done in the first place and get myself an Atma preamp.
My question is, what is different about the MP-1 from the MP-3 (apart from being in two boxes)? Is it worth paying twice the price for?
