I have been using M-60's for three years now, the last half of which they have been paired with the MP-1, prior duty having been performed in the company of an Aleph/Ono combo. As transparent and simply executed as the Pass units are, they're still solid state and the extreme clarity of the AS amps will allow the ever-so-slight sound of sand to poke through. Therefore, with the possible exception of the CTC Blowtorch, I would forsake SS and stick with a good tube pre-amp. Make that a relly good tube pre-amp. FWIW, the only other unit I have ever wished to substitute into my system is not another conventional linestage but, instead, the Pasiphae transformer based passive controller. On paper I do find it intriguing although compatibility may well be an issue. Good luck.
