I think one of the points I was making is that the 6N30 is a more versatile tube than some think - Russian sources describe it as a good low voltage tube (I have a good looking computer model for this), and it certainly sees off a whole raft of tubes in the input to a Mullard type circuit in terms of sound quality - I've tried nigh on a dozen common types with various circuit mods so I think that's a not unsubstantiated subjective judgement. I'd certainly agree with you that most use it at greater currents, but that's only one way to use it, and an application where I bow to your experience. Cheers, Andy
