I too have noticed the "transistor artifact" of which you speak. I can't help but wonder if it's just a byproduct of the poor analog stages in SACD players. Perhaps VSE has the solution at http://www.vacuumstate.com/various/SACD-Kit-Brochure.pdf. I'm curious if anybody has actually heard this SACD player upgrade.There was another company, at CES last January in Vegas, selling a similar upgrade, but was tube based. I heard it briefly, but the listening venue didn't allow for any meaningful conclusions. Since then I don't recall the name of the company.
