Re: Rozenblitz's Debunked Myths

Well, I have the book, and though I don't necessarily accept all he mentions in the book, I built the Grounded Grid preamplifier from it, and it is a very good preamp.. at any price consideration. I have performed a lot of part tweaks (this is one aspect that he does not give too much importance) in the preamp and I can tell you that the quality of parts make some difference as far as smoothness is concerned. I have used different attenuators and decided that the Dact1 was a noticeable improvement over the Alps and a Grayhiil stepped one. Swapping to Riken resistors in the audio signal path, also improved it. As far as caps, I built it using Elnas and Hovland Musicaps and I haven't tweaked with that. I am pretty sure that if I compare this scratch built preamp to a stock one, the basic sonic character will be similar, fast, detailed and dynamic.

So, I did find the book useful, you could also build his OTL, which I own, but factory built, also some other amps, including a 6550 SET amp.

Rozenblit's engineering philosophy is one of practicality, performance and reliability for a a reasonable price, and one cannot disregard this.
