Christian,I use MA-1 (home made, but with some of the upgrades in the Mark II design) monoblocks to drive the midrange panels and ribbon tweeters of my Magnepan MG-20s, with a Bryston 4B to drive the bass panels.
The external Magnepan crossover is bypassed for mid/treble, and used only for the bass, and the MA-1s are fed through a first order filter and resistor divider to match gain to the Bryston. The Bryston is driven full range. The Magnepan speaker uses a first order crossover for the mid/treble at 300 Hz, so the filter is a single series capacitor.
This arrangement works fine. You need to look at the ML crossover to see if a line-level substitute in front of the Atma-Spnere amps is practical, and pay attention to matching levels of the Atma-Sphere and transistor amps.
All this trouble is worthwhile to keep the characteristic distortion of transistors out of the midrange and tweeters of your speakers.
