Thanks for the reply Allen.
The background noise is equal on both channels and is noted when the phono section is on and turned up to the level indicated. This noise is heard even when a record is not being played. It is not a buzzing but more of a tube noise. Please read my return to Mark for more detail on my setup.

My cables and connections are lacking and I plan on upgrading the cables and connections to a ballanced setup when I learn of the best recipe for this.

I am not sure of the output onthe Koetsu Black but I think the Rosewood is around .4mV?

I have no problem wit the background level in linestage opreration only in the phono. I know the MP3 is supposed to be very quiet in phono as well so I quess some more trouble shooting is at hand.
