No, the sonics do not suffer, but there is certainly a bit less power output. For example, the M-60 will do 45 watts into 4 ohms and 60 watts into 8 ohms. The MA-1 will do almost the same power into 4 or 8 ohms. The MA-2 will put the same power into both 4 and 8 ohms.
