I see a can of worms and I can't help but dive in :). I'd like some opinions on the matching of Magnepan 3.6s and Atma-Sphere power amps. What I've read is that it is basically a 4 ohm speaker and no higher although seems to have no wild impedance swings, and, it takes quite a bit of juice to get them going. I recently heard a pair at a local hi-fi (remember hi-fi, not home theatre? O.K., so they had a lot of home theatre, but I digress) shop here in Houston. Terrible room...hard walls and no absorption behind the Maggies so lots of annoying reflections and slap echo (what are stores thinking?), but listening through all that, I liked what I heard. They were driven by a pair of VTL 750 monoblocks. I've got the MA1 MKII 12 tube version which probably means at 4 ohms I have about 75 watts continuous available. This does not sound like enough power. Speaking of bi-amping, and we were, any suggestions along that front, or would it be necessary? My room is 18' deep, 11.5' wide, and 10.5' high. I might like it loud now and again :).
