That's very exciting news, Mark (which may indicate that I need to get a life). I really am stumped in trying to imagine what Ralph has in mind, given my assumptions that (1) he would not go to the SLCF, due to the potential reliability risk, (2) he pretty much has to use a dual-differential input, and (3) he would never use an inter-stage transformer (to obtain the low impedance required to drive the output stage). Assuming he has done away with the cathode-follower, perhaps also he has done away with the cascode (since the cascode has a higher output Z than does the dual-diff amp alone). Maybe he is using cascAded dual-differential amplifier sections. My guess is one would need to use a cascade to develop the gain that is necessary without resorting to a cascode. (No need for you to comment, if you are sworn to secrecy.) I am probably completely wrong, but it's fun to guess.
