bending Hofmann's Law - The case of the 3rd order closed box

3rd order closed boxes are typically somewhat undersized vs flat alignment boxes and rely upon their series capacitor's reactance vs normal box resonant peak to significantly pull that resonance peak down, thus pulling more power from a constant voltage type amplifier.

This can extend the low end and flatten the box response. Below system resonance, it will act as a highpass filter reducing excursion and thermal effects.

Here's a boombox cabinet being made by a friend for me which houses a
GRS15PT 8 ohm woofer in a 40 liter closed box. The capacitor will be ~450uF - which is very typical for 8 ohm woofers and 3rd order operation. It was on sale for $50 and I wanted a big dumb toy ;^)
