High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

I'm digging my old Thorens/Grado/Harman Kardon A402 out of the attic and getting them up to snuff. What I don't have, after a few years of listening through headphones, is a good set of speakers. Figuring I needed some efficiency with only 40 watts in the HK (a very strong 40 watts), something compact that breathes really well at moderate volumes, but can forego the thundering bass, I was about ready to pull the trigger on a pair of Tekton Designs with a 4.5" single Fostex driver.

Then I read a thread in here about someone running similar speakers with 1.5 watts?

Am I on the right track? I read here about BMOC, SET and other letters that I don't understand. Do I need a primer before I'll be qualified to buy speakers?

Clueless in NC...
