why are you guys so concerned about letting the temperature rise? I am looking at it as a question of are there any gains to be had once the efficiency stops rising.. and there certainly seem to be.. can't we get the temperature back down by just winding a larger field coil?
FWIW, I have been listeing to a couple of field coils lately... after all of the questions on the F12N, I got mine out.. it has that field coil snap in spades... but the mids aren't right... so I rolled them off and brought in a tweeter... jbl2435 on a horn...
that setup was fun for a week or so.. then the 4411 got here.. :^)
