Sam seemed pleased overall, though I doubt the La Scala would be his first choice. As you know, these speakers are based on an old technology, produced in an era of low-powered tube amps. That's what I'd use to drive them as I don't think my Quad 405 (100 w/ch) is appropriate. The Quad works great with my 1230s, however.
