Hi,I suppose the right thing to do is to buy the plans for the BassZilla from Dick Olsher - only about $20.
I've used my FE208's in a similar config; on an open baffle placed on Altec 15" bass cabs. It's nice, but not nearly as good as putting them in ~115L boxes that share space with a good 12" extended range woofer, a Goodmans 61 in my case, tuned low, EBS-style.
The integration of the 2 dissimilar drivers on a single baffle, and working together with their different T/S parameters is very, very nice. The low end is remarkably linear in this way. No untoward peaks and nulls as in a big backloaded horn.
Also important was to inset the Fostex 3/4" or more (on a sub-baffle) to better time-align with the woofer. There is no crossover, just a very wide, shallow overlap of the 2 units. C37 and dammar is critical too, the Fostex needs no contour filter with adequate C37 treatment - it just gets more and more musical.
I've got to get this project documented with pictures, etc. One of these days!
Highly recommended. Read Thorsten's paper on this - see the Single Driver website.
