I have multiple Sub's 2 in front and one behind, however if you hook them up the way your supposed to from the Sub output of the SACD player and let the on-board Bass Redirection send signals to it, it's all but useless for 2-Ch SACD's since none of the Bass Management systems work properly on DVD-A or SACD.So YES a sub is essential if you don't have full range main speakers, but nearly worthless for SACD since nearly all SACD titles are 2-Ch.
