RE: Does running it through my TV vs. a quality DAC make a difference?

It's probably not as good as running it through a good DAC. However, that being said, the quality of the recording and sampling rate are of course going to matter as well. When a friend had Amazon HD on trial, and using an excellent DAC, comparison between file downloads (even 24/96) or CDs showed the quality of Amazon to not be as good in his system. As noted in the link I put in the prior post, Amazon apparently has no intention, with the exception of their selected partner (BlueSound) of allowing it to be open source so that it would work optimally with various DACs. While I'm not generally interested in streaming (have too many files and keep buying more and have many more on wish lists and never catch up), it is something I'd consider if they did it right especially at $7.99/month
