RE: Best SACD albums

The difficulty in recommending SACDs ( known round here as SAD CDs due to a misreading by a friend) is that many potential recommendations are no longer available or can fetch eye watering sums on the used market.

So here's my take on some of the best from my collection but whether or not you can get them is an open question.

Firstly to carry on from your posting, the Blond on Blond SACD is great. I remember when I played it my friend's wife jumped so much that she nearly fell off the sofa. Is that a mark of quality :-)?

I do like the ABKO SACDs of the pre-UMG Rolling Stones catalogue. Well worth acquiring if you can find them.

All of the Rachel Podger Vivaldi recordings on Channel Classics are wonderful - performance and sound. I particularly recommend L'Estro Armonico and her recent Four Seasons. You think that you don't need another Four Seasons or even one at all? You do now.

One SACD recommended by John Marks here on AA is Respighi's Rome troika ( Pines, Fountains, Feste) by John Neschling and the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra on BIS. I concur.

The DGG Ravel album by Boulez/BPO including Bolero ( well...) and Ma mere L'oye and Une Barque Sur L'Ocean is worth having and is one of the comparatively few SACDs that DGG put out.

Considering where you live I wonder if it may be easy for you to get Japanese SACDs . If so your choices are wider than for some of us in other hemispheres. I self imported an SHM SACD of the Solti/LSO Bartok Concerto for Orchestra. It is quite outstanding.

You may also share my liking for Corelli Op.6 Concerti Grandi on Linn by the Avison ensemble. A small group version but wonderfully played and subtly and naturally recorded.

I could go on but hope this provides a good starter.
