New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

You really don't get it, do you?

First of all, it's *NOT* about integrating an op amp into the DAC (although that is certainly a valid implementation mechanism). I've never said that - I really think you should improve your reading skills ... but that's a separate discussion.

I strongly urge you to read a textbook on sigma delta.

You'll find that sigma delta technology has improved a lot over the years - traditionally regarded as being too noisy for serious audio (60-80dB S/N), the technology has improved to 100dB, then 110-115dB, and now with hybrid designs it's possible to achieve 120-130dB, far surpassing what is possible using an R-2R network.

These improvements are done using a variety of techniques - slew rate matching is simply one of them. No one would design a sigma delta converter using just purely slew rate matching, just like it would be inadvisable to build a DAC using just a switch and a low pass filter.

If you don't want to use slew rate matching, no one is forcing you to. You won't get state of the art performance though.

And isn't that what you claim your goal is?
