But you might also use an actual subwoofer to energize the air in your room as well. I prefer to use a subwoofer because a "bass shaker" alone will merely rumble your bones through the seat of your pants...

I've done this and it works great!

If your amp (or preamp) has "pre-outs" to connect to the sub then all the better. If not, simply use "Y" cable splitters and run an extra set of output signals to the subwoofer and adjust your subwoofer volume levels manually.
