which I am often guilty of, but I have never been entirely satisfied with my sennheisers. I like them a lot and upgraded their cables and bought the nice xcan v8 to power them, but I'm always left wanting. I guess that is true of all my gear. I should have been a lottery winner. I tell you though, I've had a lot of fun playing with these little ear buds. I didn't say I like them better than the sennheisers. I think they are better at sound staging and voice seperation. That Rebecca Pidgeon song literally had me looking around the room wondering who was in there with me! That has never happened with the sennheisers. But clearly the senns have a bigger sound with more control and fines. They are more forgiving of bad/bright recordings. They have detail, dynamics and color that is nearly impossible to beat. I imagine after the honeymoon is over with the etys, I'll be reaching for the senns for serious listening, but when I do have a deployment that doesn't get canx'd I won't be missing much. Also, do you run the etymotics through a head amp? They really benefit from a good amp. They are just very nice simply plugged into my computer or ipod. Your description sums my impression if they are unamped.
Can you talk a little about what you think of the custom ear molds? I suspect they are worth the expense but I can't justify it just now. Should I or can it wait?
