About six months ago, I bought the STAX SR-007Mk2 headphones bundled with the SRM-700T driver unit. Then, a couple of months ago I bought the new STAX SR-X9000 headphones. There's no question that these STAX electrostatics sound better than any other headphones I've ever heard.

On the other hand, I also just bought the FiiO FT5 Planar headphones and I'll have to say I'm very impressed. They don't sound as good as STAX electrostatics, but for a mere $450, they're very listenable and they have excellent bass. I could easily live with them without ever wanting more. Additionally, they come with a beautiful leather carrying case and two sets of ear cushions.
