Ah, ok if you like the clarity you're getting out from the Yamaha, then no need to look at different dac. According to spec, it has Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels. So it sounds to me like you'd want to take the line out (from the preamp) signal from the Yamaha into a desktop amp. Just like you asked to begin with. :-)
There are numerous options for amps, of course. Would you be interested in a tube sound? I've heard the Little Dot Mk II combined with Grados headphones which are perhaps of similar sensitivity as your Sennheisers. I thought it gave the Grado 'phones a light touch of warmth and a good sense of dynamic play. I think it would be in your price range. Of course there are many solid state options as well.
