Old Duffer's HiFi

Are you 65 or older? Is your hearing fading? In one ear or the other? Thinking of selling your well tuned stereo system?
Don't totally give up. There is still high quality sound available that can even be enjoyed on those walks.
IEMs (inner ear monitors) have come a long way in a very short period of time. An IEM system is somewhat simple. First you need a DAP (digital audio player) that is your source. You load your music on the DAP's micro SD card. Most people use the FLAC version of digital files. There are several companies that sell Flac Music digital files. ( This is a subject you need to study so you can pick your resolution ) A few companies that sell digital music files are HD Tracks, Bandcamp, etc.
Good DAPs are made by Ibasso, HiBy and others. Capacity is now up to 2 TBs of music on a micro storage card.
Three things comprise a DAP system. The player, the IEM ( in ear monitor.) and the connecting cord (unless you go cordless). Cordless is getting better each day, but still has a way to go. The connecting cords are mostly made in China. Just like your full size HiFi system, cords matter. The most versatile are SPC (silver plated copper) cords.
The best thing about enjoying music through a DAP system is that DAPs still have a left /right balance for us old dudes that are loosing hearing in one ear, but not the other one.
The IEMs themselves are now mostly made by Asians and the Chinese in particular and prices have come down a lot and music quality has improved.
We old dudes need our exercise and what could be better than listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn etc. while we stroll for our cardio health.
