That's interesting Frank. My cable is a braided cable that appears to be silver and has a 1/4 inch adapter mounted to an 1/8 plug. While I appreciate Jon's comments, there is no way even a $400 cable can make the HD 600 sound as good as the HE 500's unless there are new drivers attached to that cable. The more I listen, the more I am mesmerized by the HE 500. I just listened to Jennifer Warnes FBR 20th anniversary edition and was amazed. No other headphones has ever impressed me to the extent that I enjoy them as much as listening my Gallo Ref 3 speakers (and don't miss my Maggie 1.6's anymore).
