They were a version of the '50' made for the discerning audiophile with a discerning pocketbook.
$30,000 for the pair, with much better cabinets (floor standers) and amps that the $15,000 a pair 'Pro' '50' series available at most pro audio shops here.
Yes, they sounded VERY good.
Ended up with Joseph Audio 'Pulsar' stand mounts (OK, at the moment they are 'chair mounts').
They are a good match for my Ayre AX7e integrated and surprisingly fill the room with very good sound with only 60 Watts per channel from the Ayre. He demonstrates the floor standing version of them in rather large rooms with 80 Watt per channel tube amps somehow. Easy load for tube dropping from 8 Ohms to just 6 Ohms across the frequency range.
If it gets cold this winter I can break out one of my tube amps and give that a go.
