Was a visitor to one of the largest kitchen appliance manufacturers in China some years ago. They made stuff for just about EVERYONE in the kitchen appliance business. Guy I was traveling with had a container of stick blenders of his companies exclusive design made for a catalog sale at Christmas and time was short so we flew to Hong Kong and took a boat up the coast to their factory.
After we got all of the outstanding issue settled they asked "What countries are you planning to sell in?" "We would like to sell them in the rest of the world. Of course the name will change along with the color and the some of the plastic housing and packaging will be completely different, no one will recognize it as your product."
Oh, and they planned to make about three times as many for themselves as my friend ordered (a full container) and they gave him an even better price for his agreement to allow it.
At least they were honest about their intention.
First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass
