I've heard claims that supplying power independent from the cable can improve sound quality. I've also heard a linear power supply can also help. I'm always leary of claims made about many supposed upgrades. Many times these upgrades seem to make no difference at all. Could you please expand on the issues you mention? I'm currently in the process of sourcing a power supply for an LDR based volume control. So, I'm thinking perhaps that same supply could power the LDR circuit as well as the USB Dac. Can you recommend a source for that type of power supply? The requirement for the LDR circuit is 18 vdc but I'm unsure about current requirement. It is minimal though. Will have to check specs on electrical requirement for the dac.

FWIW, my system is an Extended Foreplay 3 and a pair of Paramount 2A3 mono blocks
