The AKG K92 provides an articulate big bottom-end, without bass bloat. Treble is very clean and extended. The midrange presence is quite vivid but not too forward, in that the AKG K92 is not a laid back sounding headphone if that's something you might seek. It provides a decidedly front row soundstage presentation, to my ear. Also important to note is there is no coloration to speak of, so it provides a substantial level of transparency, especially for the price.
The AKG K92 fills a niche in my headphone collection when I wish to experience an assertive, but not too aggressive sounding listening session. It's especially good for 2-channel home theater listening during late night viewing, so as not to disturb the quiet time of others. The headphones are truly lightweight, with very comfortable over-ear cushions that allow for extended listening without fatigue, IME. While the headphone cable is not detachable, it's a heavy duty litz wire design that is built to last.
