I need a breakdown of earbuds, over ear, etc headphone design and sound

Hello,

Up front I know little about the intricacies of headphones since I've rarely used them until recently and they were 6+ year old beats/monster earbuds that wore out.

Sound characteristics of designs, makes, materials. Sound Quality, build quality of models and design/features. Etc for cord/hard wire models. Mostly looking at ear buds/in ear drivers but also small easily portable on or over ear as well. Mostly for wearing around house, walking, flying etc.

So I've seen some that are wood, several plastics, metal chambers/driver housings.

Single driver, dual and triple driver per ear designs.

Some are the "standard" looking type shape housings while others have chambers, backs and what might be sound defuse or sound reflector, ports, vents, sealed and multiple chambers type designs.

A general brief description of +/- of them would be helpful in figuring out what design features might help or hurt the sound I'm looking for. Which is very musical, harmonically rich mainly, but resolution/presentation and "air" around the music along with 1st would be nice 2nd group importance wise. While I do love high quality brands and sound, my bar probably isn't as high (outside of reliability) as most who use headphones very often. I was generally happy with sound of my fairly old and reliable Monster "Beats by Dre" Insight? Earbuds (haven't found any for sale yet) but if I can improve upon that sound some at cheap price and understand how the different designs effect the sound then all the better.

Any suggestions for wired models under $60 besides the headphones design education would be great too.

Thanks
