Sorry, I know it's forbidden to post the same message on several boards, but since some of the posters here have experience of concerts recording and laptop recording, I'll post the question here too:***********************************************************
Just when I thought I would never have a Windows PC again, I have to buy a new laptop for a project. So I figured, at least maybe I could do some laptop recording with it. I'll probably add a Midiman or equivalent USB 24/96 device in the future, so I would like to have a decent laptop for audio. Unfortunately, to me they all look the same.
Is there anything I should know before choosing a specific model or brand? (eg; is it crucial to have at least 1GB ram, or is the hard disk speed more important, etc.) I know that 24/96 uses a lot of space, so I would rather go for 80 GB, but is the speed more important? As for the operating system, is XP OK for laptop recording or should I try to stay on Win 2K?
Obviously, the company is paying, so cost is not so important, but I can't come up with an outrageous budget either :).
Any advice would be welcome
Thanks in advance
Eric
