I've thought about buying the Sony DRU-700A . . .Does existing commercially-sold software programs (Easy CD Creator, Nero) support dual layer burning? Any problems with it? Or did you use software from some internet site?
I'd like to burn some VHS tapes--for movies never released on DVD--on to ONE dual layer disk. Is this a feasible idea (recognizing that video quality won't be any better than the tape copy)?
I read in a NY Times article that you can't pick your layer break with the dual layer disks, because the disks must contain the same amount of data on each layer. Therefore, a 90-minute program will break at 45 minutes, whether it's a "good time or not."
Finally, the Pioneer new DVR-A08 ($179) will be the first with the ability to write certain DL disks at 4x.
