I was making my way through an otherwise lackluster Feb. issue of The Absolute Sound when I came across this section of Jacob Heilbrunn's report of the 2024 Capital Audiofest: "...but it was hard for me to make out what was occurring in the VPI room, at least musically, because there was some scuffling among reviewers far more important than yours truly about who was top dog. I made a hasty exit."
Now maybe Mr. Heilbrunn witnessed some verbal sparring only, but when I looked up the definition of "scuffle," I found "a short, confused fight or struggle at close quarters."
Yikes! Anyone who might have been there or know what happened care to comment? I mean, you can read about the latest Wadax Studio Player any time, but hand-to-hand combat among the elite of the audio press, that deserves more print space.
