There is another thread that dates back to the early days of McIntosh, when HiFi was built into a home-
In the case of speakers, they were often made to look like furniture.
Think of the Bozak and Brazilay-
The former made speakers in elaborate cabinets with high quality finishes-
the latter a cabinet maker for hifi consols etc.
