Hi All
I am interested in the experiences of buyers of AN DACs as regards the comparisons to other units. There are few valve based NOS DAC manufactures, a few more solid state NOS DACs, but hundred making standard Oversampling DACs with USB and PC audio compatability.
What DACs did you guys here first, to then buy Audio Note? And have you heard others since buying Audio Note that you thought were as good?
Mt first DAC was a PInk Triangle 2 box unit, which for it's day was quite advanced. It had the power supply in a separate full width unit, and the DAC itself had modules to plug updated chipsets into.
After that, (2004) I heard DACs from Mission, QED, Musical Fidelity and Naim, and finally an Audio Note DAC 2.1 (2004 model). That sold it for me, and I have had an AN DAC ever since.
The warmth and organic feel to the music for me compensated for the typically cold digital sound I was getting from CD, and also system matched well with my Audio Note M3 pre and Conquest 300b amps.
Live long and listen!
