DAC 2.1 voltages check out but no sound!!

Hi there. Have just finished building the DAC 2.1B kit. Lot of fun (my first kit), but struggling to get it up and running. All the voltages seem to check out on M2 power board and PCB. But I'm not getting any output out of the digi -- or into the line -- board. When I wire it up, I just get a whine in the speakers. Have checked all the interwiring between the boards and it looks ok. Any thoughts would be tremendously appreciated?!
