The D was the older entry level E speaker. It has the fully vinyl wrapped particle board cabinets (which look not bad at all), standard copper voice coil drivers with no premium crossover parts except for the inductors which are custom wound in house by Audio Note. The internal wire was either AN-A or AN-C I can't remember which. Probably A. The dimensions are exactly the same as any other E model regardless of level and price. I have heard them, and have owned a pair of AN-E L models and current have Lx Signatures. For what they cost second hand the D is an awesome speaker. Unless you have the more expensive E models sitting there to compare them to, you won't really know what you're missing. If you're contemplating the standard Kit 1, I think the AN-E D would be an excellent match if you're able to pick up the D at a good price.
