Thanks very much for the help.
The chip in there (if not all current an Dacs, except the Zeros) is an AD1865 model that is being phased out (I think AN has bought the remaining stock). It comes in two "quality" levels. I think my Dac has the noisier one. But I am not sure AN is selling these on the market. I have a letter into AN-UK.
I was thinking of adding a choke + Tube rectification + an IV transformer. This is basically what differentiates the 1.1 dacs from the 2.1s, plus the higher quality DAC. Your mods are very ambitious.
My ancillary issue in all this is: if AN won't support upgrading with some AN stock parts, like the Dac chip, chokes, and transformers (and it's clearly not in their economic interest to do so), will using non-stock AN equipment for these particular parts get me what I want in terms of sonic improvements? (The chip is a more serious issue, since finding a drop-in replacement might not be so easy)
