thankyou, and yes those are cinemag mc step ups. they are cheap and seem to get rave reveiws fom diyers though i havn't compared them to any others myself. havn't noticed a lot of hum but in this amp there's two steel sheets and quite some distance between the mains transformers and the step ups (not by accident). using an kit e speakers, the less sensitive ones

i also made the earths each chanel separate from each other on both signal boards and ran separate wires to the power supplies to reduce hum

and did the same with the ht to reduce crosstalk

the amp is nearly two years old now but still a work in progress. havn't made a nice looking front panel yet.
