gain of the L3 phono

Does any now the exactly gain of the M3 or L3 phono stage ?
a friend use the M3 kit it and we tried it against my own phono stage
the Audio note sounds much better no question and i will order it
but it plays much louder then my own phono stage this is a 40db mm preamp
the Audionote is also rated 40 db (100x) but i think it is much more i can use my volume controll just a little bit.
Do any one meassure the gain of this phono L3 amp?
and is it possible to lower the gain a little ?
