Hello,
I just did the TNT Audio sandblaster project ( I hope the link will show correctly). The improvements are not subtle. Imaging and focus got noticably better.
I would recommend vinyl lover friends to give it a go with the sandblaster, it is a very easy and inexpensive project. All you have to make sure is the sand is river sand, not sea sand, and it is dry. I dried the sand in the oven.
I used an ordinary floor stone, 40x40 cm, instead of a wooden top platform as described. John Risch recommends just using a plastic cover over the sand to prevent colorations due to stone or wood. I will also try that.
