Hello,
In my 300B Audio Note Kit1 sig. amp I swapped the 5u4g tube today.
I put in an ebay purchase Amperex 5u4gb Amperex with orange world logo. It is written on the box "Amperex a North American Philips Company". Brown bottom. The tube I took out is Sylvania, black bottom, also made in USA and only thing written is "hd AAG".
I would guess both tubes were new. Not sure. I had been using the Sylvania for over 6 months.
What I am amazed with is the "serious" difference in the sound. Much better bass, lively bigger image and amazing detail. Am I imagining things. Things sound so different with a rectifier tube??
What do you fellow inmates think?
