Previous Preamps

I am deciding on whether to get an M3 Preamp kit. I just finished a DAC 2.1 kit last week and am very pleased w/ the results. My question for the forum is; what were the members previous preamps before the AudioNote and of course what improvements they experienced.
Also, did any members use a TVC type of preamp before the AN gear? I need to drive my subs from the preamp and I do not want to have a problem with driving it due to impedance mismatches or other problems. Thanks in advance for your help and information.
