The differences are hard to track? For example, the analogue filter is not removed on the A model but is on the B model. The power supply is not the same as in any AN Dac as you say.

This is a different animal than what PQ is producing at AN. However, the AN webpage is outdated in decsribing the various DAC models, so that is no help.

I would be very careful if I were if a) I listened to a specific AN production DAC and then b) expected the A or B mod to sound like it. Maybe better, maybe worse, maybe just different.

Until some people build these kits and then compare their Dacs in A-B comparisons with AN products we will never know, and that is NOT likely to happen.

So, unless you are well-enough versed to tell what a DAC will sound like from looking at its parts (is that even possible), then you should not assume anything.

By the way, this is in no way an attack on Brian or his products. I support what he is trying to do 100%. But the results need to become known.
