One of the quirky and often missunderstood "problems" with the Black gate caps is their extreeeeemly long break-in time. You will need to put AT LEAST 200-300 hours on them before they finally show their magic qualities. During the run-in time you will notice harsh and hard "highs", reduced soundstage width and depth, "noisy" background, lack of bass, tubby bass, and many other issues that will make you want to tear them out and go back to your trusty 'lytics.... DO NOT DO IT - stay the course and you will be rewarded with silky smooth highs, deep and defined bass, open and airy soundstage, and a jet-black, silky smooth background from which new and previously undiscovered instrumental shades and tones will pour forth.Have fun!
