Maybe it's different if you are already an owner, but I've found VTL to be non-responsive. I only got into tube electronics a few years ago after 45 years as a SS guy. I have a tube integrated that was a good first step. I'm interested in learning more about VTL. I emailed twice asking for the nearest dealer and a current price list. Nothing but crickets. I am in New Orleans so am guessing the nearest dealer is Houston (360 mi) or Atlanta (470 mi). The last high-end dealer here faded away years ago.The used market is impossible to figure out because they seem to keep the same model numbers for decades even though the design and pricing change radically. ST-150 amp built in 1998 looks nothing like ST-150 amp built in 2025. Do they sound similar? Has the engineering advanced? Who knows?
I find more info on VTL from Australian and European reviews and websites that from the US. Maybe they are so successful they don't feel the need for marketing. Good for them, but not customer-friendly.
